If you have a scooter like this picture, then you have what is known as a Kids Electric Scooter. Usually these scooters are 24 volt systems and have 2 batteries and 1 fuse.
The easiest and fastest thing to check first should be the fuse. Depending on which Kids Electric Scooter you have, the fuse is usually located either on the side of the scooter or right under the belly. Some models have the fuse inside the belly where the batteries are. Check the fuse and see if the fuse is blown.Depending on which Kids Electric Scooter you have,
1. Take the fuse out of the fuse holder and hold it up to the light
2. Look to see if the metal band inside the fuse is cracked or broken anywhere. If cracked or broken, then you need to replace the fuse
--Take the fuse with you to either a Radio Shak or other electronics parts store. --These fuses run between 7 amp, 10 amp, or 15 amp. ***Some of the newer models will have a 25 Amp. That is why you want to take the blown fuse with you.
The batteries are connected together in a chain type system. In order to check the batteries on this type of scooter, follow these inteructions:
1. Remove the seat, if installed
2. Remove the footplate (The part where you stand on)
3. When you ge the footplate off, you will see the batteries and all the wires. --Find the plastic connectors for th battery cables and verify that they are connected --Check the connections on the battery terminals to make sure that they are connected --If these are connected and not loose, then we need to check the electric scooter batteries.
